Happy Gut Dessert

Happy Gut Dessert

When it comes to healing diets and lifestyles, like Paleo, it is important to not feel like you are depriving yourself of the enjoyment that can come from tickling your taste buds. Feeling deprived can lead to burn out, fast! That’s why I wanted to share this Happy Gut Dessert recipe! This recipe incorporates just a few ingredients that are all nutrient-dense. When combined, they pack a flavor punch that is sure to satisfy your cravings for something sweet.

I came up with this recipe while first trying out GT’s CoCoYo Ginger Turmeric Living Coconut Yogurt. I was blown away by how incredibly tasty this yogurt is! One serving of this yogurt contains 25 billion cfu’s of probiotics! Probiotics are the good guys that we need in our guts to help maintain the proper balance of bacteria. The gut bacteria (or microbiome) is probably the most important physical component of our health. By maintaining a proper balance of the good bacteria (with prebiotics and probiotics) the antagonistic bacteria are kept in check.

The ginger turmeric flavor of the yogurt is even more beneficial for the gut! Raw ginger and raw turmeric are potent anti-inflammatory roots and have very therapeutic effects on the gut and our bodies’ ability to heal itself.

Both pomegranate arils and cacao nibs are high in antioxidants, which help protect our body against everday stressors. Cashew butter is rich in magnesium and healthy fats. Magnesium is necessary for over 300 processes in the human body so you can bet your gut needs some!

If you can’t find GT’s CoCoYo at your local health food store, you can also substitute with any nut milk or coconut milk yogurt that is available. Or better yet, make your own coconut cream yogurt!

Good question! I haven’t seen an almond milk yogurt from GT, but I’ll be on the lookout! I really like Kite Hill’s Almond Milk Yogurt and it would work well in this recipe 😉
